ScotlandBatter
George Munsey is a left-handed opening batter for Scotland who has built his reputation in the white-ball formats. His method is aggressive and carries plenty of risk, as he looks to take control against the bowlers right from the first over. When things go his way he can do real harm during the Powerplay, and the T20 game in particular suits his style.
What sets Munsey apart within the Scottish side is the unusual nature of his shot selection. Many of his teammates keep to a more traditional technique even when they are scoring quickly, whereas Munsey is willing to play strokes that depart from the textbook. This gives the Scotland batting order a different dimension at the top.
The best example of his attacking ability came in 2019, when he struck a T20I century against the Netherlands. At that point it ranked as the second-fastest hundred ever made in the format.
Like a number of Scotland players, Munsey has gained experience in the English county game, spending a significant period with Northamptonshire. His first-class appearances have been few, though he has returned strong figures in them. Even so, the way he approaches batting has led to him being regarded mainly as a specialist in limited-overs cricket.
