Hassan Nawaz comes from Southern Punjab in Pakistan. His cricket began in the tape ball format, where he built a reputation as a specialist, and over time he made the switch to the seasoned ball used in the conventional game.
His first appearance in the PSL came in 2023 with Islamabad United. He later changed franchises, turning out for Quetta in the 2025 edition of the tournament.
His route into the national T20I side opened after Pakistan's disappointing 2024 T20 World Cup, where they went out at the league stage. That setback prompted a wholesale overhaul of the squad, and newer names such as Hassan were handed an opportunity to show what they could do. He was capped for the first time in New Zealand, and his international career opened badly, with no runs in either of his first two innings. In the third match, however, he struck a rapid hundred. The remaining two games of that run brought little for him with the bat.
Hassan bats with an appetite for risk. On the days it works, his approach is thrilling and crowd-pleasing, but such an aggressive method is unlikely to succeed consistently, and he may soon need to build more security into his batting.
