New ZealandBowler
Adam Milne is a New Zealand fast bowler who first drew wide attention at the 2010 Champions League, where he represented Central Districts. Even before that, he had shown his potential in first-class cricket, starting his career at the age of 18 with figures of 4/52 against Canterbury.
His Champions League displays earned him a place in the New Zealand side to face Pakistan in December 2010, and he went on to appear in T20Is. Around the same period, he was among the 30 initial probables for the 2011 World Cup, although he was left out of the final squad.
The 2011-12 period was hampered by repeated injuries that significantly disrupted his first-class cricket. He returned to prominence when New Zealand picked him for the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, and that same year he made his ODI debut, also against Sri Lanka.
More than a year passed before his next international chance. In November 2013 he was unexpectedly recalled for an ODI series against Sri Lanka, playing two matches without making a major impact. He then featured in one home ODI apiece against West Indies and India. His breakthrough came in December 2014, when he played four ODIs against Pakistan in the UAE and stood out for regularly reaching speeds of 145-150kph. That showing persuaded the selectors to include him in New Zealand's squad for the 2015 World Cup. Staying fit and adapting to varied pitches and conditions are seen as key to his future at the top level.
