Finn Allen is a New Zealand batter who operates at the top of the order in white-ball cricket and is known for an aggressive, attacking method.
His international career began on an unhappy note. Facing Bangladesh at Hamilton in March 2021, he made his T20I debut and was out without scoring. The setback did not last. In the third match of the same series, played in Auckland, he struck 71 from only 29 balls, a strike rate of 244.82, with 10 fours and three sixes.
His first T20I hundred came against Scotland in Edinburgh. That innings helped New Zealand reach 225, and the side went on to win by 68 runs. His T20I returns were uneven for a spell afterwards, though he also made handy contributions in ODIs.
The 2025-26 Big Bash League brought his most productive stretch, as he ended the competition as its top run-scorer. He paired his attacking intent with greater reliability, scoring heavily in the powerplay and turning promising starts into big innings. He kept that form going at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where he was among New Zealand's most dependable batters. There he balanced aggression with composure and gave the batting order a steady platform without abandoning his attacking style.
Allen now plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, where he is expected to open the batting and give the side fast starts in the powerplay.
