Final overs

- What a response from West Indies! They have bounced back in style, levelling the series 2-2 and ensuring that everything will be decided in the fifth and final T20I in Bengaluru on Saturday. We couldn’t have asked for a better finish to this series. For the second game in a row, the side batting first has prevailed, with less dew and variable bounce making the chase increasingly challenging. Shai Hope laid the foundation with a brilliant century, adding to the incredible run of hundreds we have witnessed on this tour, before Keemo Paul turned the game on its head with a sensational five-wicket haul, cleverly varying his pace to keep the Indian batters guessing. But there’s still one final chapter to be written, and Saturday’s decider promises to be a cracker. We will be here nice and early to bring you all the updates. For now, it’s time to wrap things up. Goodbye, good night, and take care!
- Shai Hope (2/2): [On the decision to give Gudakesh Motie only two overs despite his two wickets] Well just, here in India, it's always tough to give bowlers three in a row, especially on conditions maybe say, yes, give him another one. But sometimes you just have to make a decision and back it. Just one of those things that happened today. [On West Indies' ability to defend totals in slightly drier conditions] Yeah, for sure. Conditions were a little bit more similar for both sides. I just felt as though (with) the dew around, it's always going to be a part of the sphere when they chase it. Again, a really good cricket game. They played good cricket in all phases as well. So you got to give them credit. But we did well to give ourselves a chance to win the series in Bangalore.
- Shai Hope | West Indies captain and Player of the Match (1/2): [On winning Player of the Match awards regularly and the challenge of carrying them home] Well, to be honest, those were a bit heavy, we got to look at luggage weight. So I think we're gonna have some problems when I go back home with those Player of the Match awards. [On scoring another unbeaten hundred and laying a strong foundation for the team] Yeah, just trying to give the team the best chance, man. So as long we lay that foundation at the start, we got 50-plus opening partnership. So it was good for us to start innings and then obviously we got that foundation, you can express yourself a bit more in the middle period and then try to give the team the best finish as could as possible. [On whether West Indies had enough runs at the halfway stage] I honestly felt it was a decent score because the surface, it was actually holding a bit more than we thought initially. We felt as though the pitch would probably come on a bit better. But I found with the new ball, some balls were kicking up a lot more and then some were staying down as well. So it's a bit too pace to start and then obviously with the spinners and the quickers in the back end, it was a little bit more difficult to hit through the line. So I felt as though 240 plus was a decent score.
- Shreyas Iyer (2/2): [On the pitch slowing down and offering extra bounce during the middle overs] Yeah, it was holding a bit and there were some more bounces as well. But yeah, knowing that I feel the bowlers, they realized it. They are bowlers and the way they bowled according to the field, that's what was important, especially in those middle overs. Even though the momentum shifted towards us, in between still the ability to bounce back was top notch and I'm sure the fifth one would be an interesting one. [On the surface after it was used and India's approach going into the next game] Well, obviously, getting 220, especially when we were chasing and then scoring 250, you can see the approach and attitude of every individual. So the approach is going to be same and I feel going forward we don't have to think much about, our bowling. But it's all about execution and having that fresh mindset where you come on that given day and see do it, then you seize the moment.
- Shreyas Iyer | India Captain (1/2): [On India's performance and where they fell short in the chase] It all started with bowling. I think we didn't execute our line lengths well and see at the end of the day chasing 250 you have to go in a certain pattern when you're coming and chasing. So I like the approach when we were chasing but we were unfortunate we couldn't execute our plans in bowling and that's where we fell a bit short. [On whether Abhishek Sharma being off strike early affected India's start] Not really, we were still going 12 an over at that point of time. It's just that they executed their plan and there was a bit too off from the wicket as well. The ball was kicking a bit and they used the field pretty well. So credit where it's due and their execution was spot on.

- Keemo Paul (2/2): [On whether the must-win match added extra pressure] Well I wouldn't say extra pressure, but the guys were definitely more pumped, more hyped, much more passionate and we got the job done. So hopefully that works for us next game also. [On Motie's contribution as a spinner and his wickets against two set left-handers] Yes, I think Motie came in when there was two set batters, two left-handers and he bowled excellently. So kudos to Motie. It wasn't a tough situation but he did really, really well. [On the team's development and confidence heading into the next game] Look, I think we are a pretty confident bunch. I think all the guys, we back our skills and we feel we could beat any team on our day. So it's just about staying calm and believing in ourselves and I think we're doing that really well.
- Keemo Paul (1/2): [On taking his second five-wicket haul of the trip and helping West Indies win] First of all, it feels great. Obviously we got the win, so I'm very, very happy. [On his game plan when bowling at the death to two set batters] Well, obviously we have a simple plan, try and nail the yorkers and if that doesn't work, we go into the wicket. Obviously the wicket assisted us a bit tonight. The slower balls were gripping a bit, so just trying not to be too predictable. [On returning to the West Indies setup after more than a year away and contributing to the team] Well, first of all, I must thank God and praise. He's keeping me healthy, keeping me on the park and then I just want to contribute to the team. We have a good bunch. I mean Shai (Hope) been playing excellent. The guys were gelling and we were playing really well. We were up for the fight in this T20 tournament. So I just want to contribute whenever I get the opportunity. Obviously it's not easy bowling at these wickets, but you have to back yourself, and tonight I executed and I'm very happy about that.
- 23:04 Local Time, 17:34 GMT, 23:04 IST: An unfortunate way to end the game as Arshdeep can't carry on. The series is level 2-2 and set up beautifully for the decider. This win was all due to Keemo Paul - he struck with his first delivery as he got the rampaging Sanju Samson caught at deep backward square-leg. He followed it up with Ishan Kishan's in the same over and then came back to seal the deal in the 19th over with a three-wicket over. The chase started off so well for India with Sanju racing to a fifty off just 20 balls but Keemo came on and turned it around. Abhishek was rather off-color tonight and he couldn't get going at all. Tilak and Nitish were battling the steep asking run-rate and with their wickets, India's chase wilted. West Indies came out with good plans - especially to bowl short to Samson on a slightly bigger ground, asking him to clear the fence. He didn't. India would be disappointed as they found the deep fielders often but don't take any credit away from West Indies who apart from Shamar were disciplined. Springer and Motie complementing Keemo nicely there. Motie's 2 in 2 hugely denting India in the middle-overs. Next will be the post-match stuff. Do stay tuned....

- 18.2WKeemo Paul to Nitish Reddy, out Caught by Rovman Powell!! Third for Keemo Paul as he has his arms stretched out and tongue out in celebration. Full on middle-stump, Nitish Kumar Reddy gets forward to loft and fails to get under it. No elevation on the loft and straight to the fielder at long-on. Powell runs in to take a simple catch. It is off the bottom of the bat. Nitish is so disappointed and the crowd go silent. Is that the end of the game? Nitish Reddy c Rovman Powell b Keemo Paul 41(20) [4s-1 6s-4]

- 17.61Shamar Springer to Nitish Reddy, 1 run, beautiful inswinging yorker and just 5 off the over. West Indies would be loving that. On leg-stump and Nitish Kumar Reddy can only dig it out to the right of Shamar Springer
- 17.51Shamar Springer to Axar Patel, 1 run, slower-ball on a length outside off, no pace for Axar Patel as he gets forward to heave. The thick inside-edge rolls towards square-leg and it's just one
- 17.42Shamar Springer to Axar Patel, 2 runs, very full on the stumps, Axar Patel digs out the flick, wide of short fine and deep backward square-leg runs across and cuts it off to his left. Shamar the man
- 17.3•Shamar Springer to Axar Patel, no run, Axar Patel looks at Nitin Menon at square-leg. It's a dot. It's a slower-ball and dug in short outside off, Axar slashes and misses. Two dots in a row. Not what India want at this stage
- 17.2•Shamar Springer to Axar Patel, no run, wide yorker length delivery outside off, Axar Patel digs it out, but it's on the bounce to Shai Hope and that's a crucial dot. Sends Nitish Kumar Reddy back

- 16.6WRomario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, out Caught by Rovman Powell!! As soon as the ball went in the air, the crowd went wild but it's just height and if you wanted one man in the West Indies camp to be under that, then it had to be the Jamaican Powell. He runs in from long-off and takes it easily. It's a slower-ball off-cutter and full outside off, Tilak Varma gets forward to loft, but it's off the bottom of the bat and that's why it went straight up. Tilak shakes his head as he walks off. Good over for West Indies in the context of the game. Tilak Varma c Rovman Powell b Romario Shepherd 43(25) [4s-2 6s-3]
- Romario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
- 16.52Romario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, 2 runs, low full-toss well wide outside off, Tilak Varma shuffles across and heaves, doesn't middle it and work for Rutherford running across to his right from deep mid-wicket. He dives and keeps it to two
- 16.41Romario Shepherd to Nitish Reddy, 1 run, good ball. Wide yorker length delivery outside off, Nitish Kumar Reddy is standing outside the leg-stump, has to reach for it, digs it out towards cover. One is a great result at this stage for West Indies
- 16.4wdRomario Shepherd to Nitish Reddy, wide, tennis-ball short ball outside off and it's always a wide. It's outside off and left alone. So much bounce
- 16.31Romario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, 1 run, length and wide outside off, Tilak Varma gets forward to flay but straight to the fielder at deep cover
- 16.2•Romario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, no run, Tilak Varma knows he has missed out there. He punches the bat in frustration. He shuffles across his stumps, misses the pull to a slower-ball dug in short. Not a wide and the right call by Nitin Menon. Shai Hope appeals in hope for a caught behind but there was nothing in that. Also Romario Shepherd came over the wicket to this one. Sitanshu Kotak makes a point to Gautam Gambhir
- 16.16Romario Shepherd to Tilak Varma, SIX, a gift. Absolute gift. A low full-toss outside off, Tilak Varma stays back and belts it flat over long-on. Mid-on was inside and the crowd have sprung back to life all of a sudden. Humongous roar inside the RGIS. Shai Hope goes to Romario Shepherd to have a word
- Romario Shepherd [2.0-0-21-0] is back into the attack
- A change of ball. This looks harder and whiter.

- 15.66Shamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, SIX, look at the reaction of the crowd. They love the local boy doing it. Both speak the same language even though Nitish Kumar Reddy is not a local. It's a length delivery on off, he stays back and shows great power and muscle to launch the loft over wide long-on. A flat hit and that's 21 off the over. The over India needed. He really got under that and he has great strength as well
- 15.56Shamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, SIX, he has pace but is erratic as well. This flies into the top-tier at deep backward square-leg. A low full-toss outside the leg-stump, Nitish Kumar Reddy sinks low and helps the flick. The pace helps him and it flies into the crowd
- 15.42lbShamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, leg byes, 2 runs, everything happening out there. 147.3kph rapid short delivery as Shamar Joseph lets it rip. It thuds into the helmet of Nitish Kumar Reddy as he pulls and misses. It flies to backward point where Springer can't catch the ball. Also the throw is not backed up and they go back for the 2nd. Motie hits direct from long-on but Nitish is in. The concussion test follows. A break in play. Powell has a word with Shamar. That really was a brutal short ball and good to see Nitish fine as it really thudded into the helmet. Such was the force after hitting, the ball went to backward point on the full
- 15.4wdShamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, wide, Shamar Joseph not happy with that call. It was speared into the boot of Nitish Kumar Reddy outside the leg-stump. It's inside the revised red wide guideline and no wonder Shamar is not happy. As is Daren Sammy. He is waving his hands in disappointment from the dugout. Nitish did well to avoid that delivery but Virender Sharma got that wrong
- 15.32Shamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, 2 runs, short of length and hard length on off, Nitish Kumar Reddy goes on the back foot and pulls wide of deep mid-wicket, Andrew is the man and it's an easy two
- 15.24Shamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, FOUR, poor delivery and four. It's a low full-toss down leg, just needed bat and Nitish Kumar Reddy flicks it fine, well wide of Keemo at short fine. Shamar Joseph missed the yorker and got punished
- The umps having a word with Keemo Paul at short fine. Maybe they were not happy with his throw, hard into the pitch - trying to scuff the ball up. Nitin Menon not happy at all. As was Virender Sharma. They have a stern word with Keemo and Shai Hope.
- 15.1•Shamar Joseph to Nitish Reddy, no run, length delivery on off, pacy and Nitish Kumar Reddy looks to heave and the thick inside-edge finds short third man. A dot

- 14.21Shamar Springer to Tilak Varma, 1 run, nicely stopped by the WI captain behind the stumps! Shamar Springer goes for the wide yorker as Tilak Varma reaches out and gets an under edge that was going to the left of the keeper, who does well to get a hand to it
- 14.11Shamar Springer to Nitish Reddy, 1 run, starts the over with a superp yorker on the middle, Nitish Kumar Reddy can only jam it to long-on for a single
