ScotlandBowler
Gavin Main is a Scottish right-arm fast bowler whose club cricket has been played at Uddingston, the same side that Calum MacLeod, his colleague in the Scotland team, has represented. His most potent weapon is a yorker that batters have found very difficult to handle.
His introduction to county cricket came with Durham, who spotted his promise while he was still a teenager. In 2014 they handed him a first appearance against Nottinghamshire that few had anticipated, and he made it count by taking 3 for 37. Among his victims in that match were Rikki Wessels and the England seamer Stuart Broad.
Fitness has been the main obstacle in his young career. Repeated injuries have kept him out of action for long spells, and after that debut his first-class experience with Durham extended to just two further matches, one against Northamptonshire and one against Kent.
On the international stage, Main was named in the Scotland squad for the qualifying phase of the 2016 World T20. He also earned his first List-A cap during the 2015-17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. Although his tally of matches remains small, he is still regarded as a player with plenty to offer both Durham and Scotland.
