Sompal Kami

His route into representative cricket came through the Nepali Cricket Fan Club, which led him to Kathmandu Region No. 3. He became a key figure for that side as it claimed the U-19 National Championship, and his contribution went well beyond bowling: he struck two centuries during the competition while also producing strong spells with the ball.

When his father moved to Punjab to find work, Kami did not let the game slip away from him. He kept competing in school tournaments and also turned out in the Indian Premier Corporate League.

National selection followed for the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, where he featured in six List A fixtures and collected 8 wickets, his best return being 3/35. He was then named in Nepal's group for the 2014 World T20, picking up 4 wickets across 3 appearances with a best of 2/13.

His standout campaign came at the 2014 ACC Premier League, staged in Malaysia. Kami finished with 15 wickets and was recognised as the leading bowler of the event. The highlight was a five-wicket haul, 5/47, against the hosts Malaysia.
