West IndiesWicketkeeper batter
Joshua da Silva is a wicketkeeper who has represented the West Indies. His family background spans several countries: his father is from Trinidad, while his mother is Canadian Portuguese, giving him Portuguese heritage.
His path to the international side came through strong form in regional cricket. Over the 2019-20 domestic season he compiled 507 runs at an average of 50.7, a return that eventually earned him a call-up. His opportunity arrived in December 2020 against New Zealand, when first-choice gloveman Shane Dowrich withdrew from the squad for personal reasons, opening the door for da Silva to make his debut.
Having taken that chance, he went on to make the wicketkeeping position his own and has featured in the squad for every match since. A highlight came in 2022 in Grenada, where he registered his first Test hundred during a series that West Indies won against England. In the longer format he has generally been regarded as a dependable contributor rather than a spectacular one.
Away from international duty, da Silva has been involved in franchise cricket in the Caribbean Premier League, where he has been associated with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots since 2020.
