West IndiesBatter
Kavem Hodge is a cricketer who bats right-handed and bowls left-arm orthodox spin. His first taste of international youth cricket came in 2012, when he was part of the West Indies squad at the Under-19 World Cup. That same year he made his first appearance for the Windward Islands.
His early years in the first-class game brought limited returns. The source notes that he struggled to make his mark with the bat, appearing in only 22 first-class matches across a six-year stretch. Some recognition came through the shorter format, when he was picked for a West Indies B side at a global T20 tournament. His displays there led to a Caribbean Premier League deal with the St Lucia Stars, though he did not produce anything significant for the franchise in the chances he was given.
The path to the Test side was a long one built on persistence in domestic cricket. Hodge was first called up in December 2020 for a tour of Bangladesh, but he was not selected to play during that series. His Test debut eventually came against Australia in Adelaide.
The high point of his Test career so far arrived in July 2024 at Trent Bridge. Facing an England attack that featured Mark Wood, Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson, he reached three figures for the first time in Test cricket. Although he is past 30, Hodge remains relatively new to the five-day game, with only a small number of Tests behind him for the West Indies.
