TasmaniaWicketkeeper batter
Jake Doran is a wicket-keeper who bats left-handed. Over the course of his career he has turned out for Australia Under-19s, New South Wales, Tasmania and the Sydney Thunder.
Recognition came to him early. In the 2013-14 summer, aged 16, he became the youngest player to appear for the New South Wales Second XI, taking that distinction from Doug Walter. That same season he was picked in a Cricket Australia XI to face the visiting England side. His standout achievement came at the 2014 Under-19 World Cup, where no Australian scored more runs than he did.
His first-class debut arrived in March 2015, when he lined up for Tasmania in a Sheffield Shield fixture against Western Australia. In the shorter format, the Sydney Thunder added him to their KFC Big Bash League squad for 2014-15, a move that made him the youngest player in the competition.
Game time with the Thunder was hard to come by. He was used only once in his first BBL campaign and sat out all of 2015-16, the season in which Sydney claimed the title. He returned the following summer but appeared in just 3 matches. Having found good form in Shield cricket, he went into the 2017-18 Big Bash season hoping for a more productive campaign.
