Shariz Ahmad

In 2022 he moved to Voorburg CC, where Musa had already gone, attracted by the chance to bowl on turf and to test himself in the top division. That year also brought his first senior appearance for his country. Like many young Dutch players, he was handed a demanding introduction: an ODI Super League match against the West Indies. He conceded 28 runs for one wicket, and Kyle Mayers became his first international victim. He was then picked for the 2022 T20 World Cup Qualifier and claimed four wickets for 79 runs at an economy rate slightly above six, yet he was not selected for the main event.

His club form remained outstanding. He collected 31 wickets in his first season with Voorburg, then led the Topklasse wicket charts in 2023 with 47. That same year produced his finest moment in an orange shirt so far, a first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket against Zimbabwe during the Netherlands' last tour of the Super League.

Ahmad relies heavily on the googly, which arrives quickly and from an awkward angle, and it has given high-quality batters real problems. He is energetic in the field and throws harder than his size might suggest. His batting has not yet made an impact in international cricket, but his returns at domestic level hint that he could grow into a genuine all-rounder for the Dutch side.
