NetherlandsAll-rounder
Timm van der Gugten is a cricketer born in the Netherlands who went on to build his career in Australia. His first-class debut came with New South Wales, and he later represented Tasmania. Because he holds a Dutch passport, he was also eligible for the Netherlands national side and has played international cricket for them.
His international career began in March 2012. He made his T20I debut for the Netherlands against Canada, and before that month was out he had also played his first ODI, against Afghanistan. His standout one-day performance came in August 2013, again against Canada. He took 5 for 24, the first five-wicket haul of his ODI career, and was named player of the match as the Netherlands won by 9 wickets.
In 2016 van der Gugten signed with the English county Glamorgan. He took 82 wickets across formats and collected some of the club's end-of-season awards. That season included five five-wicket hauls. On his T20 debut for the county, against Surrey at the Kia Oval, he returned figures of 4 for 14.
His progress was interrupted when he injured his shoulder during an Inter-Continental Cup match. The injury kept him out of the entire 2017 county season. He returned the following season and once again produced strong figures.
