Aryan Dutt is a Dutch off-spinning all-rounder who came through the development pathway at Voorburg CC. During his junior years in the Netherlands he was regarded as a player of several talents, frequently taking the new ball and also opening the innings before he settled on off-spin as his main bowling style.
His spin bowling brought him into the national senior team while he was still a teenager. He first played Twenty20 International cricket in April 2021, in a three-team series that also featured Nepal and Malaysia, and his One-Day International debut against Scotland came about a month after that. Like a number of his Dutch contemporaries, he moved from club cricket straight into international matches, which made for a demanding start.
That jump was particularly steep because the Netherlands were then the only associate nation in the ODI Super League, a competition that no longer exists, and so mostly faced full member teams. For Dutt it meant regular contests with leading international batters, and he claimed some notable scalps. His first wicket in the tournament was Quinton de Kock, he removed West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran on three occasions, and he also accounted for Jason Roy and, twice, Babar Azam.
Tall and imposing, Dutt works mainly as a containing bowler. His success comes less from sharp turn than from altering his pace and angle and from a tight, patient line that frustrates batters. At domestic and age-group level he has shown he can bat usefully and hit the ball over the boundary from the lower order, though he has not yet made a significant mark with the bat for his country. Even so, he has established himself as the leading right-arm finger-spinner in the Dutch side, a status that earned him selection for the 2023 World Cup squad.
