Beau Webster

His rise began in the Tasmanian Premier League, where he caught attention with commanding displays for Kingborough. Aged just 20, he piled up 677 runs for the club at an average of 45.13. That form earned him a rookie contract for the 2012-13 season, and a season later he was handed his first-class debut. It came in February 2014, in a Sheffield Shield fixture against Queensland in Hobart.

Webster's Big Bash League path took several turns. The Hobart Hurricanes selected him, though he spent his first couple of seasons with the club without getting on the field. His opportunity finally arrived in the 2016-17 tournament, and he made an impression across a handful of appearances. The Melbourne Renegades signed him in the transfer period before BBL 07, and after a couple of seasons there he switched to the Melbourne Stars in 2021/22.

Beyond domestic duty, Webster turned out for Australia A against India A in September 2016, producing several notable performances. A year later, in September 2017, he showed real resilience. Overlooked by Tasmania, he lined up for a Cricket Australia XI in their first match of the JLT One Day Cup and struck a century.

His career has also taken him to England. Turning out for Essex in the One-Day Cup in 2023, he topped the county's charts in both disciplines, ending the competition as their highest run-scorer and their leading wicket-taker.
