His first-class debut came in 2015, when Kerala faced Assam at Kannur. It was a low-key introduction to the senior game. Nizar batted at number 8, was not handed a single over with the ball, and made little mark on the result.
His numbers in limited-overs cricket stand above his first-class returns. In List A matches he averages more than 30, while his first-class average is around 28.
The standout innings of his List A career so far came in February 2017, in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Kerala and Tripura in Bhubaneswar. Nizar made 82, his best score in the format, and added a partnership of over 100 with Kerala captain Sachin Baby. Despite that effort, Kerala finished on the losing side.
