New South WalesBowler
Ben Dwarshuis is a left-arm fast bowler whose deliveries tend to skid on, and he also offers aggressive hitting from down the batting order. His main home in Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket has been the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
The Sixers handed him his first appearance in 2014. By BBL 06, his third season with the club, he had become a fixture, playing every one of their 10 matches and collecting 13 wickets across the campaign.
Away from the Big Bash, Dwarshuis has been a regular in the New South Wales second XI, though injuries have repeatedly kept him off the field and cost him a significant number of matches. He was named in the NSW squad for the 2016-17 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup, but his only outing in that tournament came in the opening fixture, against a Cricket Australia XI.
The Indian Premier League has twice come calling. The Punjab franchise bought him in 2018, and in 2021 the Delhi Capitals brought him in as a replacement player. On neither occasion did he make it onto the field. He was also selected in Australia's T20 squad at one stage, yet he had to wait until 2022 for his international debut, which came in a single T20I against Pakistan.
Long regarded mainly as a specialist in the limited-overs formats, Dwarshuis broadened his experience in the 2022/23 season when he played his first first-class match for New South Wales.
