Madhya PradeshBowler
Avesh Khan is a fast bowler built on height and hostility. He strikes the surface firmly and can extract awkward lift from a good length, and when his action is flowing he sits consistently above 140kmph. His pace is backed by a broad set of variations: he can roll his fingers over off-cutters and leg-cutters and mixes in several kinds of slower delivery.
The Indian Premier League became the springboard for his international career. A standout 2021 campaign with Delhi Capitals yielded 24 wickets at an economy of 7.37. India then took him along as a net bowler for the T20 World Cup later that year, and in 2022 he earned caps in both white-ball formats. In the same period, Lucknow Super Giants bought him at the mega auction for INR 10 crores. LSG kept him as one of five retained players ahead of the 2025 IPL, and in one season he ended as the franchise's second-highest wicket-taker, collecting 13 scalps from 13 appearances despite leaking runs.
His path to that stage began in age-group cricket. He was in India's squad for the 2014 under-19 World Cup in the UAE, though he played just a couple of matches and took one wicket. Two years later, at the 2016 edition, he led the attack, finishing with 12 wickets from six games at 15.08. That same 2014-15 season he had also made his Ranji Trophy bow for Madhya Pradesh against Railways, aged only 17.
Recognition soon followed. Royal Challengers Bangalore handed him his first IPL contract for the 2017 season. In 2018 he travelled to South Africa as one of three Indian net bowlers for the Test series, alongside fellow quicks Basil Thampi and Ankit Rajpoot. That year also brought his finest first-class return, as he claimed 35 wickets in seven matches for Madhya Pradesh at an average of 16.37.
