Blessing Muzarabani

His height defines his bowling. At 6ft 8in, he can make the ball climb sharply even on lifeless pitches, and the angle he delivers from can make batters uncomfortable. From early on he was regularly clocking speeds in the mid-to-high 130s km/h, which put him among the fastest bowlers on the Zimbabwean domestic scene.

He reached international level after very few matches. His first Test came against South Africa in 2017, a four-day day-night fixture played with a pink ball. He went without a wicket, and Zimbabwe lost heavily inside two days. His ODI introduction, against Bangladesh, was no easier, as he was let down by repeated no-balls at a time when Heath Streak headed the team management. Even so, his height, speed and movement off the seam kept him in view as a prospect for the future.

In 2018 he made himself unavailable for national selection and joined Northamptonshire on a Kolpak contract. His first county season brought 17 wickets from 7 first-class matches. Revisions to the Kolpak rules brought that spell to an end, and he went back to Zimbabwe in 2020. Picked for the home series against Pakistan in November that year, he took five wickets in an ODI innings, and he went on to become an important member of Zimbabwe's limited-overs attack as his control improved and he used his bounce more cleverly.

He has also made his mark in franchise cricket. Playing for Multan Sultans in the 2021 PSL, he collected 10 wickets in 6 games as the side went on to win the title. Time spent in T20 leagues around the world has helped him tighten his control, particularly during the middle overs and at the end of an innings.
