Lorcan Tucker is an Irish cricketer who keeps wicket and bats, born on 10th September 1996. Behind the stumps he is regarded as dependable, with a classical method, while at the crease he is a powerfully built hitter capable of aggressive strokeplay.
His path began in junior cricket and led to selection for Ireland at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. In September 2016 he played his first T20I, against Hong Kong. For Leinster Lightning he made his List A debut on 4 June 2017 in the Inter-Provincial Cup, and his first-class debut followed that same month in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship.
Further international call-ups came his way. In January 2017 he joined Ireland's group for the 2017 Desert T20 Challenge, coming in for the injured Stuart Thompson. January 2019 brought a place in the T20I squad for the Oman Quadrangular Series, and he was also picked in the Test, One Day International and T20I squads for Ireland's 2019 series against Afghanistan, which was staged in India.
His batting returns have so far been modest. In first-class cricket he averages a little under 29, passing fifty only twice across ten matches, and his opportunities to bat in T20Is have been scarce, without a short innings that stood out. Even so, his first-class displays have persuaded selectors that he can be used as a pinch-hitter lower in the order, and greater consistency with the bat could make him a serious candidate for a regular place in the national side.
