Harry Tector

His profile rose at the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Tector collected 8 wickets during that event and was afterwards singled out as the rising star of the Irish squad.

That same year he stepped into first-class cricket. In May 2018 he turned out for the Northern Knights against Leinster Lightning at Comber, in a match forming part of the Cricket Ireland Inter-Provincial Championship. He made 10 in one innings and 22 in the other, and his off-breaks brought him three wickets in the game.

One of his standout efforts with the bat came against Sri Lanka A. Coming in with his side under pressure, he made 103, but it was not enough to win. Sri Lanka A reached their target of 269 inside 31 overs. His batting average in the shorter formats is considerably stronger than his first-class record.

Tector has also been called into Ireland's T20I squad for the Oman Quadrangular Series and for a series against Afghanistan. He was not picked in the playing XI on either occasion, so his senior international debut was still to come.
