Cricket was not her only option. De Klerk also competed in javelin and cared deeply about it, but she stepped away from that event at 17, when South Africa named her in their squad for the 2017 World Cup.
One of her most notable international performances came at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2020. Brought into the playing side as cover for an injured teammate, she took three important Australian wickets in the semi-final and ended with figures of 3/19. In 2023 she was the lone South African selected in the ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year, having claimed 16 wickets from 9 matches at an average of 16.68 while also making 181 runs at 45.25 with the bat. She was then an important part of the South Africa team that reached the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup but did not win it.
De Klerk has also built a franchise career overseas. She has spent three seasons with Brisbane Heat in the Women's Big Bash League, regularly holding a place in the side. Her stint with Oval Invincibles in the Hundred was brief, lasting two games, yet she made a half-century in one of them. In the Women's Premier League, Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed her for the 2024 edition to replace Heather Knight; she appeared once before the franchise let her go. Mumbai Indians then acquired her at the 2025 WPL auction for INR 30 lakh.
