Sydney Thunder WomenBatter
Litchfield grew up in Orange, in New South Wales, where her early cricket was shaped by her father, Andrew Litchfield, himself a grade cricketer. A key part of her development came in her early teenage years, when she took on men's cricket and lifted her standard considerably as a result.
She first drew wide notice in 2019, when footage of one of her net sessions spread rapidly online. That same year she made her WBBL debut for Sydney Thunder, and in only her second appearance she became the youngest player to reach a half-century in the competition. She has remained a central figure for the Thunder ever since that first season, and at 21 she became the youngest permanent captain of a WBBL side. Her batting is known in particular for a well-executed switch hit, a shot that has earned the nickname the 'Litch Switch'.
On the international stage, her T20I debut came in December 2022, followed by her first ODI in January 2023. She opened her one-day career with consecutive fifties and later posted her first ODI century against Ireland. A fruitful series in India contributed to her being named the ICC's Emerging Cricketer of the Year for 2023.
Her value has also been recognised in franchise cricket around the world. At the 2024 WPL auction, Gujarat Giants secured her for INR 1 crore. In 2025 she turned out for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred Women's Competition, a campaign that ended with the team taking the title, and she was named leading run-getter and Most Valuable Player.
