Ehsan Adil

His chance at Test level came during Pakistan's 2012-13 series in South Africa. Umar Gul and Junaid Khan were both unavailable for the second Test at Centurion, so the selectors called Adil up, and he went directly into the playing XI. He took two wickets in that match.

His first one-day international followed in May 2013, against Scotland, while Pakistan were touring the UK. After that, keeping a place in the national side proved difficult. A run of injuries to several pace bowlers eventually opened the door again, and after 18 months away from international cricket he returned for a Test against New Zealand in Dubai in 2014. He claimed two wickets in that game and was left out of the next Test.

The selectors still kept faith with him, including him in a 15-man World Cup squad. He appeared in only a couple of matches at that tournament, and his displays were not strong enough for the selectors to keep pursuing him afterwards.
