Shubham Ranjane

The game runs through several generations of his family. His grandfather, Vasant Ranjane, was himself an all-rounder and played for India during the 1950s. His father, Subhash, turned out for Maharashtra and also earned selection for the India Under-19 side.

Shubham's own first-class career began with Mumbai in 2016, and he has since appeared in nearly 10 matches at that level. He has also shown he can make an impact with the bat away from first-class cricket, striking an aggressive hundred while representing DY Patil Sports Academy.

Although he can score runs, Ranjane generally comes in towards the lower end of the batting order, which makes him more of a bowling all-rounder. Movement through the air is the main weapon in his armoury, and his swing bowling makes him a threat to batters. He made useful contributions to Mumbai's Ranji Trophy campaign, with a standout outing against Baroda in which he picked up three wickets and passed fifty with the bat in the second innings.

Breaking into the Rajasthan Royals playing XI is a tough task given the depth of talent in the squad. To earn his place, Ranjane will have to catch the attention of the team management by showcasing his skills with both bat and ball, whether in practice games or during net sessions.
