Shehan Jayasuriya

His route to the national side ran through a range of domestic and franchise competitions. Along the way he turned out for Chittagong Kings, Kandurata Maroons, Moors Sports Club and Police Sports Club. His aggressive batting made him a natural fit for the shorter formats, and Sri Lanka gave him his first T20I appearance against Pakistan in 2015.

That early stint with the national team did not deliver the results his ability suggested. He was dismissed without scoring on his ODI debut, and although he occasionally cleared the ropes and found the boundary in every direction during his few outings, he soon lost his place.

A productive 2018 domestic season opened the door again. He finished as the top run-scorer in the Premier Limited Overs Tournament and was named Man of the Series. That form earned him a recall for Sri Lanka's 2019 tour of Pakistan, where he made an instant impression with an innings of 96 in a match his side went on to lose. During that knock he and Dasun Shanaka put on a record partnership of 177 runs.
