He first made his mark as an off-break bowler whose batting lower down was a useful bonus. Over time he put real work into that side of his game, gradually moving into more senior batting positions until he could be counted as a true all-rounder. At domestic level he plays for the Mashonaland Eagles, and it was during the 2019-20 season that he played his first matches in both first-class and List-A cricket. His rise from there was swift: within a few months, in March 2020, he was handed his first international appearance, against Bangladesh. Around a year after that he added a Test cap, facing Afghanistan, and he soon showed he could contribute in a variety of ways regardless of the format.
The year 2023 brought both a career highlight and a serious setback. In March, during an ODI series with the Netherlands, he claimed a hat-trick, making him just the third player from Zimbabwe to achieve that feat in the one-day international game. Later that year, Zimbabwe Cricket banned him for four months after he failed a drugs test. Once the suspension had run its course, he returned to the national team and successfully re-established himself.
