ZimbabweBatter
Ben Curran is a Northampton-born cricketer who has opted to play international cricket for Zimbabwe, the country his father, Kevin Curran, also represented. He comes from a family of three cricketing brothers, and his siblings Tom and Sam are all-rounders who play for England.
His professional career began at Northamptonshire. Strong performances for the county's second XI earned him his first Twenty20 appearance during the 2018 T20 Blast. Later that same season he also made his first-class and List-A debuts.
His time at Northamptonshire ended badly. After a lengthy run of disappointing results, the county released him and he was left without a contract. He then relocated to Zimbabwe, and his international breakthrough came quickly: in late 2024 he made his debut for the national side against Afghanistan.
Curran is a left-handed batter who plays at the top of the order and is known for hitting hard. His attacking flair and his ability to score fast and put opponents under pressure have drawn widespread notice.
