Kim Garth grew up in a family where cricket ran deep in Ireland. Her mother and father both turned out for Ireland, and her brother, Jonathan Garth, also plays the game professionally.
Garth is a pace-bowling all-rounder who was only 14 when she first appeared in international cricket. At that point no Irishwoman had played at that level any younger. She went on to become a fixture in the Ireland side and took part in three World Cups while wearing their colours.
In 2020 she chose to build her career in Australia, agreeing a two-year contract with Victoria. By 2022 she had qualified to play for her adopted country, and her first Australia appearance came almost immediately, in a T20I series against India that December. Her Test debut came a year later, and she was named in the Australian squad for the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup.
Garth has also been busy in franchise competitions. In the Women's Big Bash she lined up for the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Thunder while classed as an overseas player, before joining the Melbourne Stars as a local for the 2021-22 season. In England she has represented the Trent Rockets in The Hundred, and in the Women's Premier League in India she has played for both the Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
