Dhruv Shorey

The bulk of his achievements have come with the bat in the longer, red-ball game. Even so, Shorey has proven useful in limited-overs cricket too, where he offers more than just runs: his off-spin bowling has also proved handy.

His standout campaign came in 2017-18, when he displayed how adaptable he could be. In the Ranji Trophy he kept piling up runs and played a central part in carrying Delhi to the final, where they finished as runners-up; he struck a century in that title match. He carried that form into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, showing he could also keep the scoreboard moving quickly in the shortest format.

That all-round usefulness, with batting as his main strength, made him an attractive option for the Chennai Super Kings, who added him to their squad at the 2018 Player Auctions as one of several uncapped players the franchise invested in. A chance to perform in the IPL could give his career a significant push forward.
