The second TNPL season brought even better returns, as he led all bowlers with 17 wickets. Those performances earned him selection for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he went on to play an important part in the state winning the trophy that same year. Valued for his accuracy and his ability to keep runs down, he kept producing on the domestic circuit and was the top wicket-taker in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

His path in the IPL required patience. CSK brought him in as a net bowler in 2019 and handed him a contract the next year, yet he did not feature in a match. The pattern repeated in 2021, when strong domestic form still could not win him a place in the side. That year he was also named in India's squad for the tour of Sri Lanka, but again went without a game. His breakthrough came in 2022 with the Gujarat Titans, who won the title that season; in his limited outings he made a good impression and showed the thrift with the ball he was known for. He then topped Tamil Nadu's wicket tally in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy.

His first India cap followed at the 2023 Asian Games, where he appeared in all three of India's matches, including the final that India won to take the Gold medal. In the 2024 IPL he played five games for the Gujarat Titans and claimed 7 wickets, and at the 2025 IPL Auction the franchise kept him for INR 2 Cr by using the RTM card.
