Yash Dayal is a left-arm fast bowler whose Indian Premier League career began in 2022 with the Gujarat Titans. His first campaign in the competition was an encouraging one, and he finished that tournament with 11 wickets to his name.
His second IPL season was much harder going. In a match against KKR at Ahmedabad, Dayal bowled the 20th over and Rinku Singh hit him for five sixes in a row, taking KKR to a dramatic win over the Titans off the final over. It was a bruising experience for the bowler and a difficult moment to move past.
A year later Dayal was playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and the change of team coincided with a revival in his fortunes. He picked up 15 wickets across the season, a return that marked a clear recovery from the setback he had suffered.
The standout dismissal of that bounce-back campaign was MS Dhoni, who holed out to a fielder stationed at deep backward square leg. That wicket carried real weight, as CSK ended up missing out on a place in the play-offs because of it.
