David Moody, born on 28 April 1995, is an Australian cricketer who bowls right-arm pace. Cricket runs in the family: his uncle is Tom Moody, who played for Australia at international level. Before stepping into the professional game, he was a student at Guildford Grammar School from 2008 to 2012.
In the build-up to the 2015 World Cup, several touring national teams played warm-up fixtures against invitational sides, and Moody appeared for a number of these. Among the opponents he faced were Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India and the United Arab Emirates. He was also included in the Prime Minister's XI fixture against England in 2015.
The Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) gave him a rookie contract for the 2014–15 domestic summer. His first-class debut came for Western Australia during that season's Sheffield Shield campaign, in a February 2015 match against New South Wales.
The debut brought instant reward. Moody claimed a wicket in his very first over and added another in his third, going on to finish the opening innings with figures of 4/60.
