4. • 77.16Jayden Lennox to Akash Deep, SIX, stands tall and smashes it over mid-on. Shortish delivery, Akash rocks back and smacks it over long-on nonchalantly for six. Jayden Lennox tried the bumper but it sat up for Akash to have a free swing

6. • 74.66Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, SIX, now he has no intentions of keeping this short ball along the ground, Gets inside the line and plays the pull so fine and so well to easily clear the ropes
   • 74.54Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, shouts of catch it but DJ manages to pull it so fine. Keeper flew to the left to stop that ball but the ball escaped. Shortish delivery down the leg-side, DJ gets inside the line and sends it to the boundary
7. • 72.54Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, short and wide outside off stump, DJ cuts it past backward point. His back foot play has been outstanding all day
8. • 71.66Jayden Lennox to Dhruv Jurel, SIX, short ball and pulled away over mid-wicket. Shortish and on the leg stump, DJ rocks back and sends it high over the infield. Nicely timed that and his back foot play has been exceptional
9. • 69.54Jayden Lennox to Akash Deep, FOUR, Akash Deep is wasting no time! You can expect him to play his shots. Gets underneath this one and goes downtown, smoking it over mid-off for a boundary
   • 69.2WJayden Lennox to Manav Suthar, out Caught by Mitchell Hay!! Oh, Manav Suthar is gone! He's been caught behind! The left-arm spinner tosses this one up outside off, and the left-hander goes for the drive, only to get an outside edge. The keeper moves to his left, juggles it once but manages to hold on. The idea was to tempt Suthar into chasing the drive, and it worked. He took the bait and ended up paying the price. Jayden Lennox picks up his first wicket. The 62-run stand has been broken as Hay takes his third catch of the innings. Manav Suthar c Mitchell Hay b Jayden Lennox 22(46) [4s-3]
10. • 68.34Dean Foxcroft to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, was that a chance? The fielder was perhaps a fraction late to react. A really tough one, though, as Jurel skips down the track and looks to hit it towards deep mid-wicket but ends up hitting it towards wide long-on. Luckily for him, the fielder can't quite get there despite the dive to his right
11. • 66.54Dean Foxcroft to Manav Suthar, FOUR, advances and lofts back over the bowler's head. Good enough connection to beat mid-off to the left
    • 66.2FFiftyDean Foxcroft to Dhruv Jurel, 1 run, goes back and knocks it gently to square leg for a fine fifty from the skipper. Gets a cheer from the Indian fans and his teammates. DJ raises the bat to acknowledge the applause
12. • 65.54Jarrod McKay to Manav Suthar, FOUR, this time he clips it fine and beats long leg to the left. Full and swinging back in, Manav flicks, hits it past the keeper and gets four
    • 65.24Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, Jarrod McKay tests him with a full outie as follow up to the short ball and DJ beautifully leans forward and drives through cover for four more
    • 65.14Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, every time they have bowled short, DJ has been very good with his footwork. This time he didn't exactly fully rock back, but swivelled so well on the fine pull shot. Sends it fine to the fine leg fence
13. • 62.34Jayden Lennox to Manav Suthar, FOUR, advances and belts it down the ground! Flighted delivery from Jayden Lennox, Manav gets to the pitch of the ball and drives over the infield for four
14. • 61.14Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, pulled away! Rock solid on the back foot for this short of length delivery, DJ smashes it through mid-wicket for four
15. • 55.44Fraser Sheat to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, pulled away, Fraser Sheat wanted Jurel to play something else after he looked rock solid to length or back of a length. So he dug this in short to test Jurel on the pull and Jurel brilliantly rocked back to play a swivel-pull through mid-wicket
16. • 53.1WFraser Sheat to Washington Sundar, out Lbw!! What a start to the final session for New Zealand A! Fraser Sheat strikes again, trapping Washington Sundar right in front. The umpire wastes little time in raising his finger and sending the left-hander on his way. Sheat starts around the wicket, and Washington Sundar is caught flat-footed, unable to get his feet moving on the first delivery after the break. He pays the price as Sheat keeps it full and straight. The left-hander plays all around it as the ball beats the bat by some distance and pins him right in front. Washington Sundar lbw b Fraser Sheat 8(40)
17. • 50.44Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, quality on-drive from Dhruv Jurel! Offers the full face of the bat to this fuller delivery and drives it past the mid-on fielder for a boundary
18. • 46.44Jarrod McKay to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, second boundary for Dhruv Jurel! Pushes at this fuller delivery with soft hands. There's some away movement as the ball takes the outside half of the bat and runs down to deep backward point for a boundary
19. • 41.34Randell to Dhruv Jurel, FOUR, short, and Jurel pounces on it! Stands tall and pulls it firmly through deep square leg for his first boundary
20. • 38.3WFraser Sheat to Smaran Ravichandran, out Lbw!! Wow, can you believe it? Smaran Ravichandran is gone for a golden duck! That's a very bad leave from the Karnataka left-hander. The ball jags back in from a good length outside off, and the tall left-hander is pinned to the crease as he shoulders arms. He's struck on the front pad, the impact is just outside off, but it's always going on to hit the stumps. No shot offered and the umpire raises his finger, and Fraser Sheat is on a hat-trick! Smaran Ravichandran lbw b Fraser Sheat 0(1)
    • 38.2WFraser Sheat to Devdutt Padikkal, out Bowled!! What an hour New Zealand A are having! They have picked up three wickets in quick succession, and this is a big one. A short delivery outside off that comes back in as the left-hander goes for the cut. There's not enough width to play that shot, and he ends up chopping it back onto the stumps. Padikkal is clearly disappointed with his shot selection as he walks back to the pavilion. Devdutt Padikkal b Fraser Sheat 80(140) [4s-12]
    • 38.14Fraser Sheat to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, Padikkal moves into the 80s! Doesn't get the desired timing but gets enough on it to beat the fielder at mid-off for a boundary. Full and wide outside off, and Padikkal latches onto it
21. • 37.4WRandell to Yash Rathod, out Caught by Mitchell Hay!! Is there an edge? The umpire raises his finger! Yash Rathod stays his ground, seemingly more disappointed with his shot than the decision itself, perhaps wondering how he could have played at that delivery. It was full and close to off, coming in with the angle before moving away. Rathod looks to defend off the front foot and gets a faint outside edge through to the keeper. Yash Rathod c Mitchell Hay b Randell 13(22) [4s-2]
22. • 35.24Randell to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, nips away slightly, but the left-hander doesn't go at it with hard hands and does well to guide it through the slip cordon for a boundary
23. • 33.24Jarrod McKay to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, Devdutt Padikkal makes his move, charges down the track and carves the short of a length delivery over the point region for a boundary
24. • 32.54Kristian Clarke to Yash Rathod, FOUR, onto it in a flash! He's really good against these short balls. Gets right on top of it and hammers it away to deep backward square leg
25. • 31.64Jarrod McKay to Yash Rathod, FOUR, all too easy for Yash Rathod! Short delivery into the body, but there's not much bounce or pace on offer. The left-hander times the pull nicely through deep backward square leg for four runs
26. • 30.24Kristian Clarke to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, easy pickings for the left-hander as he gets one down the leg side and manages a fine tickle. The ball beats the diving keeper to his right and races away for four
27. • 29.14Jarrod McKay to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, Devdutt Padikkal's stunning red-ball form continues as the left-hander brings up yet another fifty, following scores of 32 and 199 in the first game. The left-hander brings up the landmark in style! Offered a short and wide delivery, he throws his bat at it and sends it racing over the point region for a boundary
28. • 27.1WJarrod McKay to Sai Sudharsan, out Caught by Mitchell Hay!! Edged and safely taken by the keeper! An early breakthrough for New Zealand A in the second session. Have to say, it was a rather lazy poke from Sai Sudharsan. Back of a length outside off, and all the left-hander does is poke at it without any feet movement. The ball straightens to take the outside edge. A real opportunity to score big thrown away by Sai Sudharsan. Sai Sudharsan c Mitchell Hay b Jarrod McKay 41(63) [4s-3]
29. • 25.34Fraser Sheat to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, Devdutt Padikkal moves to 49! His purple patch continues to grow. Fuller ball, outside off, Devdutt Padikkal knelt down and drove it wide of the man at mid-off
30. • 24.44Randell to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, banged in short, Devdutt Padikkal was ready for it. The batter rolled his wrists on the ball and pulled it down to deep square. That was pretty well done by the southpaw
31. • 23.54Fraser Sheat to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, length delivery, well outside off, Devdutt Padikkal slaps that wide of the man at cover for a four. Got the room and jumped down on it
32. • 19.34Jarrod McKay to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, and leans into the drive to send it scorching past mid-off. That was a length delivery, outside off, Devdutt Padikkal got behind it and stroked it on the up
33. • 16.3OTeam fiftyKristian Clarke to Sai Sudharsan, 2 runs, tucks a delivery off the pads and sends that down to deep mid for a couple of runs. That was well placed indeed
34. • 15.54Jarrod McKay to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, that's drilled! Dropped down on his knee, found it fuller and smacked it well wide of mid-off for a four. One of the best shots of the day so far
35. • 14.24Kristian Clarke to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, fuller length delivery, angled on to the pads, Devdutt Padikkal clips the ball away and does it so nonchalantly off his pads to send it well wide of the man at long leg to his right
36. • 12.34Kristian Clarke to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, nudged fine, very fine! Down on to the pads, shaped in, Sai Sudharsan just got in line and played it off the pads past the dive of the keeper
37. • 11.54Jarrod McKay to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR, gets a soft leading edge this time and the ball races wide of the man at point for a four. That was a length delivery, curled in, Devdutt Padikkal looked to clip it and the ball went off the thick edge for a four
38. • 8.34Fraser Sheat to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, bent back knee to a fuller length delivery and creamed down the ground for a four. That was a fuller length delivery, shaped in, Sai Sudharsan got behind the line of the delivery to stroke it well past the man at mid-off. Lovely timing
39. • 4.64Fraser Sheat to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR, almost dragged it on! That was a fuller length delivery, outside off, Sai Sudharsan looked to drive that and got an inside edge for the ball to whistle past the sticks. First four of the day
40. • 0.4WFraser Sheat to Yashasvi Jaiswal, out Lbw!! Not too lucky this time! The ball shapes in again, Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to push at it and missed the line of the delivery to be trapped in front. That one seemed to be hitting him just in line. Yashasvi Jaiswal has to take the dreaded walk back. He has missed out again. The ball nicely bent in and the ball hit him on the move. The bat came down at an angle and came down late. A technical glitch that Yashasvi Jaiswal would want to correct before the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal lbw b Fraser Sheat 0(4)

1. • Jaiswal was out 4th ball of the morning. Sai and DDP put on a wonderful 91-run stand for the second wicket. The hosts then hit back with three quick wickets in the space of 6 runs but Dhruv Jurel walked out determined and looked rock solid. Hardly put a foot wrong and the clarity was evident. DDP will be disappointed after dragging a harmless ball onto the stumps. Sai made a notable 41 but between DJ and DDP, India A added 179 runs out of the 291. As the ball got old, New Zealand A struggled to trouble the lower order and they gave great company to their captain. That's it for the day. Join us back tomorrow for all the Day 2 action. See you!
   • 18:31 Local Time, 05:31 GMT, 11:01 IST: Stumps, Day 1 - Wow, Jurel doesn't try to complete his hundred tonight. They could have easily settled for two off the last ball of the previous over to get strike but he chose to be a team man. He's ensured India get a very respectable first innings score. DDP did it at the top and DJ took over from the middle order. His back foot play, his pro-activeness to what the bowler was trying to do in the name of setting him up and his bold approach of even taking on the short ball ploy. This has put him on the brink of a sensational hundred. Teammates give him a warm reception as he heads back. Great resistance from Manav and Akash too.
