Sean Solia is a left-handed batsman whose game also includes left-arm medium pace bowling. Limited-overs cricket is where he has made his mark most clearly, though he is also capable in the longer, red-ball version of the sport.
His first appearance in the Plunkett Shield came during the 2016-17 season, in a match against Canterbury. The early phase of his first-class career proved difficult, and before long he was on the edge of selection rather than a fixture in the starting side.
Selectors still noticed his attacking approach with the bat, and he was given opportunities in the shorter formats. There he flourished, frequently scoring quickly while batting near the top of the order. His first List A outing, against Northern Districts in January 2017, produced an innings of 152. Since then he has been a regular in Auckland's planning for white-ball cricket.
