Rivaldo Moonsamy is a right-handed batsman who also keeps wicket. He reached first-class cricket while still in his teens, making his debut at that level before turning twenty.
His domestic home has been Northerns, who recruited him ahead of the 2015 season. He has stayed with that first-class team ever since, and he has been picked on a regular basis rather than waiting on the fringes for a chance.
His output has been notable for the limited number of domestic matches he has played. Across those games he has passed 1000 runs, and his tally includes four centuries spread between first-class and List A cricket. In the longer format his average sits above 50. His scoring rate has drawn comparisons with Quinton de Kock, another player who combines glovework with attacking batting.
Moonsamy has also spent time around the academy squad. His next opportunity is the Global T20 League, where Benoni Zalmi have signed him, giving the young keeper-batsman a stage on which to show what he can do in the shortest format.
