Reeza Hendricks

His international chance in T20Is arrived after a productive season with the Knights, which earned him selection for the 2014 tour of Australia. The opening match of his career brought a duck, yet the selectors stuck with him for a while. He managed two scores in the forties, one against Australia and one against West Indies, though neither innings was fluent, and he was left out when South Africa headed to Bangladesh.

Steady returns for the Lions and Griqualand West later opened the door to the One-Day side in 2018. He marked that debut with a century against Sri Lanka at Pallekele, placing him in a select group of players to reach three figures first time out. Around mid-2018 he was handed the opening role, but his output fluctuated in the lead-up to the 2019 World Cup. With Aiden Markram dominating List A cricket, Hendricks did not make the 15-man squad for that tournament.

T20 cricket, where he is most at ease, remained his stronghold, and he kept his spot in South Africa's side in that format. When Jozi Stars claimed the first Mzansi Super League title, he finished as their third-highest run scorer. He was picked for the 2021 T20 World Cup but struggled there, gathering 56 runs across 4 appearances. He then found strong form ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup, only for Rilee Rossouw, who was in even better touch, to be preferred, leaving Hendricks without a single match despite his inclusion in the squad.

Having drifted in and out of the national setup on several occasions, he was eventually named in South Africa's 15-man squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
