Bjorn Fortuin

His introduction to first-class cricket came in 2013, and it was far from a dream start. Fortuin failed to score in his first innings at that level, falling for a duck, and he also went without a wicket in the match. Since that difficult beginning he has worked on his technique, and the effort has been reflected in the runs he has gone on to make.

With the ball, his standout performance arrived in October 2017, when he was playing for the Lions against the Knights. Fortuin returned figures of 6 for 78 in an innings, the best of his career, and that effort helped the Lions build a first-innings advantage of 203 runs. He finished the game with 7 wickets in total, although the contest ultimately ended in a draw.

Earlier that same year, in July 2017, Fortuin was included in the South Africa A squad that travelled to India. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball was the reason he earned a place in that touring party.
