Sediqullah Atal

His senior international career began with a T20I debut in March 2023. His real breakthrough came at the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, held in October, where he passed fifty in each of his five innings. That run helped Afghanistan A lift the trophy and earned him the Player of the Tournament award. Debuts in both ODI and Test cricket followed.

In the one-day game he quickly made an impression. In only his second ODI series, against Zimbabwe, he struck his first century and backed it up with a half-century. At the 2025 Champions Trophy he batted at number three, and his 85 off 95 balls against Australia was the highest score of the innings. His technique and composure have led many to see him as a future fixture for Afghanistan in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Atal has also been active in franchise and domestic cricket. Delhi Capitals signed him for the 2025 IPL at his base price of INR 1.25 Crore, bringing him in as a replacement for Harry Brook. He played in the team's final game of that season and made 22 from 16 balls. In the 2025 Shpageeza Cricket League he finished second on the run-scoring list, collecting 308 runs across 8 innings at an average of 38.50.
