His profile first rose at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, where he was selected in New Zealand's squad. Across the event he claimed seven wickets, more than any of his teammates. Not long after coming home from that tournament, Otago handed him his first-class debut. Stepping up from age-group cricket to the senior domestic game proved a challenge for him, yet Otago continued to back him and gave him a new contract before the 2018-19 season.
Steady returns in domestic cricket eventually brought him into contention for the national team. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in October 2024, in a series where many of the usual first-choice players had been rested. Roughly a month afterwards he added a Test cap, playing on home soil against England.
