New ZealandWicketkeeper batter
Tim Seifert is a New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter whose breakthrough came through one remarkable innings in domestic T20 cricket. Facing Auckland, he reached three figures in only 40 balls, the quickest T20 hundred ever recorded in New Zealand's domestic game, and that display of power made selectors take notice.
Seifert has kept wicket since his school years and counts former New Zealand gloveman Gareth Hopkins as a mentor. He is compactly built and draws his power from fast hands and clean ball-striking, qualities that make him a real threat during the fielding restrictions at the start of an innings. He had spent only a brief spell in domestic cricket before getting his international chance. That opening arrived in the 2018 T20I tri-series featuring Australia and England, at a time when New Zealand had not settled on a short-format keeper, and he marked his debut with a quick, eye-catching innings.
Most of his international cricket has come in T20Is. Across roughly 90 matches in the format he has scored over 2200 runs, with several fifties and a top score of 97 not out. He has usually been used as an attacking batter near the top of the order, though shifting team combinations and competition for places have meant his role has not always been fixed. His ODI chances have been few, with fewer than 10 appearances and limited returns, and he has been seen more as a reserve in that format. Even without a guaranteed starting spot, he has stayed in New Zealand's white-ball plans and has been named in squads for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
His IPL record so far is slim: 3 matches and 26 runs. He is set to join Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2026, where he is expected to act as a reserve keeper and a top-order batter capable of giving the innings a fast start.
