His first international appearance was a T20I at the 2023 Asian Games. A year on, selectors brought him into the Test and one-day setups as well, and he has since become a regular presence across all three formats. Not long into his international career he gave a clear demonstration of his value with an explosive 68 from only 34 deliveries against Sri Lanka.
The tour of the West Indies later in 2024 provided perhaps his most important contribution so far. In the third innings of the Test at Kingston, with only the lower order for company and on a surface that made batting hard, he struck a superb 91. That innings lifted Bangladesh into a strong position and played a central part in the team drawing level in the Test series. He finished the Tests as the top run-scorer and then repeated the feat in the T20I series that came next.
