Chetan Bist is a Rajasthan cricketer who keeps wicket and bats. His introduction to first-class cricket came in 2013 in a fixture against Services, and it was not a happy one: he was run out after making only 4.
That setback did not end his career. Bist has gone on to appear in more than 20 first-class games and has also turned out for Rajasthan in List A cricket. His position in the batting order has changed over time. He initially batted in the lower order, and Rajasthan later moved him up to open the innings.
The standout innings of his career so far came in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season. Facing Jammu and Kashmir, he made 159, and Rajasthan won that match by a margin of 75 runs.
His returns at the top of the order have tended to be uneven, with substantial scores mixed with early dismissals, a number of them for nought. The clearest example came against Odisha in December 2018, when he failed to score in either innings of the Ranji fixture. His side still came out on top in what proved to be a tight contest, so his pair did not cost Rajasthan the result.
