When his side is batting, Kerr takes his place in the middle order. When it is time to bowl, he delivers seam-up deliveries. That combination gives his team a player who can be used in either half of a match.
The 2019/20 season was the start of Kerr's senior career in two different formats. That season he made his first appearance in List-A cricket, representing New South Wales, the state he grew up in.
In that same season he also made his debut in Twenty20 cricket, this time in the colours of the Sydney Sixers. Debuting in both the one-day and the shortest format within a single season marked a notable step forward for the all-rounder from Bowral.
