Ajay Jadav Mandal is a cricketer from Chhattisgarh who sees himself first and foremost as a left-handed batter. His left-arm spin, by his own account, developed because his coach insisted that he put work into it, and that push turned him into a genuine all-round option.

Mandal came up through the age-group system in Chhattisgarh. He made his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2016-17 season, the same season in which Chhattisgarh itself first appeared in the competition.
He soon became central to a landmark result. Against Tripura in 2016, Mandal claimed 3/41 in the first innings and followed it with 4/55 in the second, setting up the victory that gave Chhattisgarh its first ever win in the Ranji Trophy.
Alongside his crafty spin, Mandal can be used as a pinch-hitter with the bat. That combination earned him his first IPL bid in 2023, from the Chennai Super Kings, although he did not play a match for the franchise. In 2025 he was picked up by the Delhi Capitals.
