Amite Hasan replaces Mominul Haque in Bangladesh squad for Sylhet Test
Bangladesh have brought Amite Hasan into their squad in place of Mominul Haque for the Test in Sylhet, while Mushfiqur Rahim stays in the group despite missing the first Test with a finger injury.

Bangladesh have made a change to their Test squad for the match in Sylhet, calling up Amite Hasan in place of the experienced Mominul Haque.
The selectors have also kept Mushfiqur Rahim in the squad. He sat out the first Test of the series with a finger injury, and his retention keeps open the chance that he returns for the Sylhet fixture.
The omission of Mominul removes one of the most experienced batters in the Bangladesh Test set-up. As last recorded on 31 October 2026, the left-hander had played 82 Tests, scoring 5,293 runs at an average of 37.54 with 13 hundreds. A part-time left-arm orthodox spinner, he had also taken 11 Test wickets at 56.00 by that date. His white-ball record is much shorter: 28 one-day internationals, with 557 runs at 22.28 and seven wickets at 27.14, and six T20 matches, with 60 runs at 20.00.
In Test cricket, a team names a squad larger than the eleven who take the field, so a change to the squad shapes the options available before the final team is chosen on match morning. Bringing in a new name for an established player alters both the depth of the batting group and the choices open to the selectors for the next Test.
For Amite Hasan, the call-up offers an opening at Test level, while Mushfiqur's fitness is set to be watched closely in the build-up to the Sylhet game.
