He started his domestic career with the Wellington Firebirds in 2011-12 and later joined Northern Districts. His best first-class innings is an unbeaten 142, made against Central Stags at Karori Park in a match his side won. His bowling came to the fore in the 2016-17 Ford Trophy, when he claimed seventeen wickets from nine games and finished as the competition's leading wicket-taker.
His career has also drawn attention away from the field. He faced a rape accusation in 2016, and a second trial in 2017 ended with a hung jury. He was called up to the national squad shortly after that trial. The chief executive of New Zealand Cricket said publicly that the organisation respected the court process and would not revisit past events.
His returns for Northern Districts earned him a place on New Zealand's 2017 tour of Ireland, where the selectors used a second-string squad to assess their depth. He made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka early in 2019 and was then retained for the home series against India, where his bowling drew praise.
