The early months of 2018 showcased his value. In February he struck an unbeaten 125 from just 108 balls against KwaZulu-Natal, in a game Boland went on to win by an innings and 26 runs. The following month, while captaining the side in a Sunfoil 3-Day Cup fixture, he took four wickets in the first innings and six in the second for a ten-wicket match haul, and added 44 runs from number 6 as Boland secured victory by three wickets.
Those performances helped earn him a call-up to the Cape Cobras squad in June 2018. Within that group he goes by the nickname 'The Ice Man', a reflection of his composure when the pressure rises. He relishes bowling at the death and can strike the ball hard late in an innings, qualities that suit the shortest format well.
That T20 skill set brought him franchise opportunities. Cape Town Blitz signed him for the first Mzansi Super League, and in September 2019 Paarl Rocks selected him for the competition's second edition. Still a relatively recent addition to the Cobras, Adams offers a blend of batting, bowling and leadership, and he will be aiming to secure a regular spot in their side.
