Erin Burns

Burns was born in New South Wales, but the depth of talent in that state meant opportunities were hard to come by, so she moved to Tasmania to further her career. The switch paid off. Her career took off in 2009, and across the 2009-10 season she earned the Tasmanian Roar Player of the Year Award. Her form that summer also brought a call-up to the Australian national squad, although she was not handed a match during that time.

Despite a lengthy career in the Australian system, the source describes her as still awaiting a chance at international level. She has kept performing on the domestic circuit, above all in the twenty-over game, and has been a key figure for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash. Her domestic experience also extends beyond Australia, as she has played for Wellington Women.

Away from the field, Burns has an impressive academic record, holding a degree in Exercise Science as well as a Masters in physiotherapy. She is also a keen cyclist, a pastime she discovered while working her way back from a serious knee injury.
