He first came through as a pure batter, but over time he added left-arm spin to his game and grew into a useful all-rounder. His breakthrough on a bigger stage came at the 2016 U19 World Cup, where his slow bowling kept opposing batters quiet and he chipped in with handy contributions with the bat late in the innings.

That tournament opened the door to the IPL. The Delhi Daredevils were the first franchise to sign him, yet he never played a match for them. The Rajasthan Royals then picked him up in 2018, shortly after a domestic campaign in which he finished as joint-top wicket-taker for Rajasthan in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. Even so, opportunities with the Royals remained scarce.

Regular selection finally arrived after he joined RCB in 2022. Across three seasons there his returns with bat and ball were moderate rather than remarkable, though the side valued him as a capable lower-order hitter. His domestic output during this period was similarly steady without ever producing a breakout year. Ahead of the 2025 season, the Gujarat Titans secured his services for INR 1.7 Cr.
