PuducherryBowler
Ankit Sharma is a left-arm spin bowler known for his accuracy, and he also offers a lower-order batting option capable of clearing the boundary. His first steps in domestic cricket came in the 2009-10 season.
The Indian Premier League, launched in 2008, opened doors for many young players, and Ankit was among those who benefited, with the Deccan Chargers giving him his first franchise opportunity. Over the following years his IPL career took him through several sides. Beyond the Chargers, he turned out for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiant. In that competition he earned a reputation as a reliable contributor, frequently delivering economical spells with the ball.
Establishing himself in domestic first-class cricket proved a slower process. It was not until the 2015-16 season that his results in the longer format began to pick up, and his red-ball form was described as trending upward after that point. Even so, he has generally been viewed as better suited to the white-ball game, fitting the profile of an all-round utility player whose blend of skills tends to shine in the shorter formats.
